Tashreeb is Iraqi bread soaked in hot broth and topped with whatever was cooked in it. At Kabab Erbil all seven kinds are on the menu every day, at our Al Muraqqabat branch in Deira, Dubai, and our Al Taawun branch in Sharjah: lamb, chicken, lamb with okra, Erbil tashreeb with chickpeas, Kurdish chicken, shawarma and bajila.
Each kind is made differently, with its own ingredients and taste, so the choice comes down to what you want on top of the bread:
Each one is listed below with its photo and today's price.
Tashreeb is eaten hot, from the bowl, while the bread on top still has some bite and the bread underneath has soaked up the broth. It is filling on its own and is often shared at the table alongside a grill or a plate of slow-cooked quzi. To read about where the dish comes from and its link to the old Arab thareed, see our guide to Iraqi tashreeb.
Bajila tashreeb is part of our Iraqi breakfast, served from 09:00. The meat and chicken kinds are main dishes, and they are most popular on cooler evenings, which is why they lead the Iraqi winter table.
All seven kinds are available every day at both branches, open from 09:00 to 03:00: Al Muraqqabat in Deira, about 500 m from Al Rigga Metro, and Al Taawun in Sharjah. Every kind can also be ordered online from the list below.
Seven, and all of them are available every day at both branches: lamb, chicken, lamb with okra, Erbil tashreeb with chickpeas, Kurdish chicken, shawarma and bajila.
Tashreeb is how Iraq still eats the old Arab thareed: bread soaked in broth, topped with what was cooked in it.
